A beautiful location, hosted by our Irish Embassy, a wonderful sparkling Christmas tree decorated with our St Patrick’s “Angels”, lovely coffee and delicious food, and the scene was set for our Angel’s Coffee Morning, on 14th November. This is a very special occasion with a charitable twist. The purpose of this event, apart from meeting up with friends, having coffee and a chat, is to choose an Angel from the Christmas tree. Each Angel represents a child’s wish for a Christmas gift, which is written on the Angel. This year we had 62 children’s wishes from three Homes, Rumah Victory, Home of Peace and Rumah Juara. The Angels were all taken quickly after the welcome speeches by Hilary Reilly, Irish Ambassador to Malaysia and Debbie O’Neill, from the St Patrick’s Society. The arrival of the Alice Smith Primary School Choir got everyone in the Christmas spirit and you could hear a pin drop as their voices filled the room with our favourite carols. It was so lovely to be back in person at a Christmas event. The children were accompanied by their teacher, Ben James and Louise King. The children are a credit to their school in terms of their patience and general behaviour and of course their musical performance.

Thanks to the wonderful generosity of those who attended and the Alice Smith teachers, we are able to provide gifts for all the 62 children this year. Thank you to the Irish Embassy team for putting up the tree and for sponsoring the Christmas fare. A huge Thank you to Ambassador Hillary Reilly for hosting this special event.

The Annual Inter-Society Quiz was back in full force when 15 tables battled it out at Out of Africa to see who would be crowned brainiacs for 2022.  With the help of Juliana and Theresa, your resident President took the honour of quizmaster and fired out all sorts of trivia.  The warm up round took many by surprise as it was more a nuclear roaster than the traditional easy stretch.  Needless to say wild card strategies were  blown away after this.   Did you know what a baby monkey is called – Table 6 used their Joker card to find out!   It took a nail biting “Last Call” round to decide the champions after a super contest and we even had a tie break round to decide who would take away the glamorously adorned wooden spoons. A great night had by all accounts and we raised over RM2,000 on the night to donate to our chosen charity.  Thanks all for your support!
