Charity Cheque Presentation

On Wednesday the 27th July, Kerry O’Sullivan, Deputy Head of Commission, warmly welcomed us to the Irish Embassy for one of our favourite days in the St Patrick’s Society’s annual calendar, the Charity Cheque Presentation.

This year’s annual Charity event raised an outstanding RM108,100. Our choosen charity, the  Alliance of Chin Refugees (ACR)were the main recipient of the funds. The funds will go towards assisting the running of one of  their schools by contributing towards the teacher’s salaries and towards  supporting their Free Medical Clinic by purchasing medication. We also gave funds to The Chin Student Organisation (CSO) to help towards paying the teacher’s salaries in one of their schools in Pudu.

The cheques were presented by Kerry and Des Morgan, the President of the St Patrick’s Society of Selangor, who gave a lovely speech thanking all the charities for their dedication. We were also spoilt with afternoon tea and coffee and a lovely spread of food which gave us time to mingle. It was wonderful chatting to  the charity recipients, and hearing about what they are  doing and achieving within their charity. Their dedication, time and skills was so evident and their passion to help others was very inspiring.

We are well aware that we would not be able to donate to these charities and acheive this without  the generous support of you,our members,friends and sponsors.
