Nollaig na mBan

Saturday the 6^th of January saw a group of 15 elegant ladies arrive at the Butler and Chef Italian restaurant for the St. Patrick’s Society of Selangor Women’s Christmas’ or as we say at home, ‘Nollaig na mBan’.

We were welcomed by the attentive staff and wine buckets were quickly brought out for those among us who had brought some sparkles. The restaurant had kindly given us an offer of charging corkage for every 2 out of 5 bottles that we bought. Corks were soon popped and the fun began.

The restaurant does have a normal menu but it specializes in offering a 7, 9 or 11 course dinner at a rather good price for each. We settled for the 7 course dinner and it was more than enough. We were discretely asked if we did not like some food and as I dislike olives, I got an individual starting rather than having the sharing platter that the other had.

The evening progressed and as we enjoyed the food and wine, the noise grew. We finally finished the delicious food and carefully made our way down to our friends in Healy Macs which is just below the Butler and Chef. There we were greeted with by the friendly staff and most of us continued to party. By this stage, we were not quite so elegant but we were having fun!!

We all eventually made it home and Sunday morning was a slow start for many. Thank you to all the wonderful ladies who made it that evening and to the Butler and Chef and Healy Macs.  What a great start to the year. Happy New Year all.
